HOW TO GET TO BORACAY FROM KALIBO?

UPDATED: MAY 2013

Kalibo is one of the main hubs towards Boracay. It is about a- 2 hours bus or van ride away from Caticlan jetty Port, where you will ride a boat (about 5-15 minutes ride) to get to the beautiful island of Boracay.

The Kalibo International Airport

Kalibo is a good choice if you are in a budget–except of course if there is an ongoing sale for Caticlan which rarely happens— It is a good way to save money, and of course the mountainous or forested scenery is a plus if you choose Kalibo. Manila to Caticlan fares (regular fares) are usually PhP 7,000-10,000 while Manila to Kalibo the regular fares are around P3000-P4500, so as you can see there is a big difference! *Advise: Wait for airline seat-sales because they lower the price for about 75% so you can save a lot.

After your arrival in Kalibo International Airport, you can see a lot of stalls offering a package of either bus or van with ferry ride. This package usually costs from 200-300PhP depending on the bus/van company. During my visit we opted to ride a van which costs P250.00 (the company that runs it is KIATA).

The stalls are located right in front the baggage-claim area.

Here is the van service we used (Kiata)

After 2 hours of traveling we were dropped off to Caticlan Jetty Port where we paid environmental fee, terminal fees and other kind of fees. We were also required to sign up in the visitors’ log sheet where everyone is required to sign in order for the local government unit to monitor the number of people coming into the island.

So, here are the other KIATA vans lining up for alighting passengers towards the jetty port

CATICLAN JETTY PORT

BEFORE YOU ENTER CATICLAN JETTY PORT, there are counters waiting for you at the side of the entrance. You should not go inside the jetty port UNTIL you already paid the things you need to pay, such as terminal fee, environmental fee and alike. If you are such a naughty kid “so makulit” you will be told to go out again to do what you should do, which only means that you’ll be hassled again because of the tedious security check. Save yourself the hassle of opening your bags and repeating the same procedure. So, Before you get inside please pay your dues…

*Students and senior citizens are given discounts, for environmental fee, you will only pay Β P75.00 . πŸ˜€ so, present your ID’s!!!

You also need to sign up your names if you are visiting Boracay, so that LGU’s will have information regarding the number and the names of the people who visited this number 1 tourist destination in the Philippines.

You will register here, put your name and signature in their logbook. πŸ˜€

The ferry ride is just 15 minutes, so basically, after 2 hours and 15 minutes of travel you will arrive to the mesmerizing island of Boracay…

the ferry/fast crp that will transport you from Caticlan Jetty Port to Boracay

BUT! after that 15 minutes ferry ride, you still need to ride a trike (tricycle) which costs at around P100.00 or 2USD to get to the White Beach where most of the hotels are located. P100.00 is for the whole trike, so you won’t share it with anybody, it can carry up to 4-5 people. But, if you are really in a budget, you can share the tricycle with other people. Β Our hotel is located near D’Mall (in between station 2 and station 1) so maybe if your hotel is in Station 1, the price will be higher.

Β As for the boat rides, it is P25.00 per person for trips starting at 5am to 6pm and P30.00 for trips starting at 6pm onwards except if it is part of the package. The ferries end their operations at 10 pm. Which means that it operates from 5am until 10pm.

Although it seems tiring to get to Boracay after deplaning in Kalibo… Everything just seems to go away once you catch a glimpse of the glistening sand and turquoise water of Boracay.

the beauty of boracay

HAPPY WANDERING!

  1. haizz! ang hirap nga talaga makabook ng seat sale sa cebupacific. ang bilis mag soldout. pero thanks sa advice mo na pwede rin pala sa kalibo ang bound.

      1. Jusy as well you did what you did. I completely forgot how to get to boacay from kalibo. The very first time we visited was 14ish years ago via overnight ferry then few more times flying from manila over the years i still cant remember the different ways to get to the heavenly fine white sand heaven!!!!! It seems ways to get there changes every year…. thanks for sharing your ‘how to get to boracay diary’. So very helpful!!!

      2. Ask ko lang po kung 24 hours ba ang land trip and boat service nila? 7pm kasi ang arrival namin sa kalibo, so medyo nag aalala kami kung makakarating pa ba kami sa boracay island on the same day. Thanks in advance!

    1. check other airlines. we got a Php0 fare sale with Php0 fuel surcharge at tigerairways.so we only spent Php500 for our Roundtrip ticket πŸ™‚

    2. Try air asia now (July 8, 2013), promo on-going now. selling period is from July 8 to 14, 2013 and travle period is from February to August 2014. We’re able to get an advance booking (clark-kalibo-clark) @ Php640.00 + Php 120.00 = Php760.00 on March 2014. c”,)

      1. Yes try Air Asia. We were also able to get an advance booking (manila-kalibo-manila) @ Php 556.40 all-in one way on February 2014. I think their promo is all sold out na by this time, but try to visit their website from time to time, maybe they will post seat-sale promo again.

Thanks Yannah for your nice blog. It’s really very helpful.

  2. very helpful blog. i like the picture para people know. hehe May question ako, Where would I buy a ferry ticket back to caticlan ferry then back to kalibo airport? I didnt think I saw that. Im planning on going this summer kasi, Thank u

    1. Hi Kristel! Thanks for visiting my blog! πŸ™‚ to caticlan port–> you’ll buy the ticket in boracay port. To Kalibo airport–> you’ll buy your ticket in the van station terminal in front of caticlan jetty port..

Hope this answered your question! πŸ™‚

  3. very helpful blog! keep it up! anyway, may question ako. ang arrival time namin sa kalibo airport is 11pm, may mga masasakyan pa ba kami nun?may kalibo hotel na kami na-book. then, ano earliest time naman ng mga rides to boracay? thanks! πŸ™‚

  4. Very informative blog! I’ll be going to bora on august 2013 and im preparing as early as now. If i got it right..the P250 of Kiata van already includes the Ferry fee. That’s a total of P375/head to reach bora..right?

  5. Thanks for this blog yannah πŸ™‚ anyway we’ll be going to bora on June 2013. ask ko lng how much ang boat ride from caticlan port to bora each person except for the fees?

  6. Hi good morning blogger…ask ko lang po if until wat tym ung ferryboat going to boracay kasi, my flight to kalibo is around 5pm..so basically ill arrived at Caticlan 6pm..so is there a ride pa going to the island of boracay on that time..Thank you.

    1. Hi Roquiza, unfortunately I don’t know what time the last boat from Caticlan Jetty Port towards Boracay departs. If ever I’ll go back again in Boracay anytime soon, I’ll ask. Sorry. 😦

      1. na search ko na po..until 10pm ung byahe ng ferryboat papunta sa boracay island..so no worry na po ako..thnks for d reply…

  7. Hi! just want to ask if same cost of fares and fees will be collected from boracay to kalibo airport or its just one time fees at the caticlan jetty port?

  8. When was this taken? Kasi when I went to Boracay last June 17, 2012 saka November 20, 2012, 100 Pesos na ang terminal fee both in Caticlan and Cagban Jetty ports. They said once all improvements are done, saka lang daw ibabalik sa 50 Pesos. I’ll be in Boracay in a few days kaya I’m searching some articles para malaman ko if it is still 100 Pesos. πŸ™‚

  9. Hi Yannah, thanks for your blog! …very helpful! ..ask ko lng if it is advisable na advance booking ako sa Kiata for a Van going to Caticlan?.. Do they have numbers to contact to??..Will arrive po kasi ng Early morning ng Sunday ..and we are travelling on a group of 15 including children.many thanks! πŸ™‚

  10. Hi yannah if im not mistaken ang 12years old below ay walang bayad sa terminal fee? At ano bang murang hotel ang mai susuggest mo? Thanks

  11. Thank you for very informative blog….it very helpful especially for na first time mkapunta ng boracay….my tanong p po ako 24 hrs po ba ang transportation from boracay to kalibo kasi 8:40am ang flyt nmin pbalik ng manila ?thanks a lot and God Bless…

    1. Nope, it’s not 24 hours. The last trip (Caticlan to Boracay) is by 10pm. During the mornings, I’m not sure what time boat operations starts…my friend wasn’t able to ride her plane because there’s no ferry boat going to Caticlan at 2am– her flight was 6am.

    2. Any good suggestion, I have the same mistake on our time of departure, our sked time is also 8:40am, and we don’t want to leave Boracay a day before our flight. Help! 😦 (rebooking is not possible)

  12. What time do the ferries and shuttles start in the morning? Our flight out of Kalibo is at 8am. (Made a mistake in my booking and cant change it to later in the day)
That means we’ll have to leave Boracay at 5am at the latest to get to Kalibo airport in time for our flight to Manila.

    1. Ferry operates 5am till 10pm but there is no shuttle or pub …. last trip for shuttle is at 5pm and pub
4pm… better be at kalibo day beforr to avoid hassle…. try rb lodge or airportline hotel very near airport… 12hrs stay cost 550/2pax…

  13. Great job!,,, very informative blog…. nononsense…. thank you so much…. if i may ask, do you have any info with regards to villa romero resort? Located at station3.. planning to book a 2n at the said resort dis june 1… andthey offer a 600/head one way transfer all in…ΒΏ..isnt that a deal? But i dont have any idea with regards to d resort…. so i was asking if you have any idea….

    1. Thanks Michael! Unfortunately, I don’t have any idea about Villa Romero Resort, this was my first time to hear about it πŸ™‚ But, it’s true, it’s a good deal. You can check tripadvisor.com for some reviews about that hotel πŸ™‚ Good luck and Happy Wandering!

  14. hi po! pano po pag wala sa white beach ung hotel like if its in Diniwid or bulabog beach pano po ang sasakyan, is it the same tricycle that brings you to white beach? thanks!

  15. Hi! I have read your blog and I’m so thankful knowing these pieces of information…:-) Anyway, would you recommend for a beachfront hotel for us..thanks

  16. If i may ask? does d 250 bus fare from kalibo includes environmrntal fee and terminal fee? Or only d bus ride and boat ride?

  17. hi there yannah.. this blog is very informative, thanks to this! but i would like to ask if how to get back in kalibo airport from boracay– ? the SOUTHWEST bus/van company offers a Php500 ALL in, does this mean BACK and FORTH ticket already (per person)?
which one is faster to ride— bus or van?
    thank you πŸ™‚

  18. oh by the way, is there a schedule on a specific bus/van company?

we will arrive in kalibo airport by 18:00hr — can we still catch up the boat/ferry schedule?
are there any other schedules for ferry/boat? thanks yannah..

    1. with regards to bus/shuttle i think there is… last trip from kalibo 6pm for shuttle and ferry ride last trip is 10pm..

  19. do you have any blog about iloilo? because FYI dis blog of yours in Boracay really helped me..just arrived from boracay….
    tnx God bless.

    1. Sorry Mike, I haven’t been to Iloilo, that’s why I don’t have any blog post about it. But I hope I’ll be able to visit it soon. Thank you very much for patronizing my blog! πŸ™‚

  20. Hi Mam! 250 na po ba ang pinaka- cheapest na bus rate from Kalibo to Caticlan Port? Then, how much po ang total expenses sa port per way mam? And sa student din Mam. Thanks po! God Bless! More Power Mam! :))

    1. Hi, ung 250/pax/way ay shuttle.. van and boat ride lng un. Kapag bus na as in pub ay p107 lng but you have to go to the bu terminal via tricycle and will cost you about 60-100php for tricycle that can accommodate up to 8pax.

  21. This a very good blog for people who are going to Boracay for the first time. No advertising or hassle drama. Direct to the point and informative. These here are the things that a person needs to know when they arrive in Kalibo. Thank you for spending time in updating the pictures and information.

    1. Thanks Sioy, I’m doing my best to help other travelers out there. Blogs have been helpful for me during my travels so I guess this is a way of giving back. Thank you for your comment, it made me really happy πŸ™‚ Happy Wandering! πŸ™‚

  22. Hi. Our arrival time in kalibo airport is 4:30pm. Do you think maaaccomodate pa kami ng mga transfers papuntang hotel namin(la carmela de boracay)? Kasi sabi nila until 5pm lang daw sila nagsasakay. Pls help us. Kasi may kasama pa kaming bata papuntang boracay. And naresched lang kasi ang flight namin kaya naging hapon.. 😦

    1. Hi Laarni, I’m not sure until what time the van transfers accommodate passengers. But, I can give you the contact number of the van that we used for our transfers during my last visit. I’ll post here, as soon as I get a reply from my friend.

      1. Hi Yannah! Your blog really helps. Can I also have the contact # of the van you used during your last visit. My flight was rescheduled at 4:30 pm, too. Thanks!

  23. Super informative! Me and hubby are a liitle worried since its our first time to go to boracay thru kalibo and not thru the usual caticlan airport. Thanks to your blog many of our questions are answered and worries lessened! Though how about going back to kalibo airport? is it as easy as you put it, as going to boracay? Tc! Godbless!

    1. Hi Mia. You have 2 options either to get the package (boat+ van/bus ride) in Boracay port or you can opt to do it yourself, just pay the boat fare 25.00 in the Boracay port and then across or in front of the Caticlan jetty port terminal you’ll see a van terminal, then there you can ride the van towards Kalibo. That’s easy so don’t worry. Whichever method you’ll choose both are economical, so it’s still a win-win situation. I suggest either of the two. πŸ™‚

  24. Hi,

I just want to ask which is cheaper, if we travel through transportation services or if we just commute? I would also like to ask which is faster? We are planning to go to Boracay this month and we are not sure which is cheaper and if there’s a faster way to travel back to airport on our last day.

    Thanks!

  25. Tnx for the tips…gantong2 ganto ang ggwin nmen dis sept….sana meron k rin for coron and el nido it will be a great help tlg….:)

  26. hi very helpful ito thanks yannah! btw, if our flight from kalibo to davao is at 9:05am may mga available bang vans that leave as early as 6:30am?

  27. thanks so much for all the details, very informative. I’m going to Boracay next month, and our returned flight is 8am from Kalibo, i read that you suggest its better to stay the night before in Kalibo, can you suggest 1 day itinerary in kalibo ? and we havent book hotel in boracay, what is the best area to stay in boracay, prefer one next to the beach but not too crowded ?

  28. Hi yannah thanks for your blog..it helps a lot since this our first time to experience boracay..
May I ask if there is still environmental fee and terminal fee if your route is from boracay to kalibo airport..tnx!

    1. Expect nyo na po delays, ang flights pero I was informed nmn tru txt and they called me,a day before the flight, but when we got back from kalibo ,wla man lng text na madedelay ,and we were rushing our selves to the airport taz delay nnmn pla…..mura nga pero tlgng haba ng delays nila….

    2. Yes, it was okay. Airasia is a well known airline so traveling using that airline is safe and very reliable. but since were from Manila, traveling using Airasia towards Boracay is quite the hassle. Since we need to travel from Manila to Clark (2 hours) then Clark to Kalibo (1 hour) and then Kalibo to Boracay (2 hours). So, it took us 5 hours traveling with a lot of transfers. But, hey, if the fare is only 400 then why not?

      1. Hmmmm… Clark to Kalibo? talaga? I just booked recently (for March next year) and sabi Manila – Kalibo… PHP 1805 roundtrip for two… Sabagay via Zest na pala ito… Let me double check.. waah. πŸ™‚

  29. Hi
My flight would land in Kalibo airport at 9PM. Will there be any transport available after 9PM to reach Boracay Island. Also, my return flight will be in early morning at 4AM. So, can i get any transportation around 12 AM midnight to reach Kalibo from Boracy Island? Please share information.

  30. Hi your blog is very informative. Btw how about the ride or transfers from boracay back to the kalibo airport? Are you still going to pay another terminal fee and environmental fee ? Hoping to get your reply asap. Thanks!

  31. this is a very informative and helpful blog especially to us who were first time to visit/experience boracay island..Thank you so much ms Yannah!! now my hubby and i feel at ease on our upcoming boracay getaway.. Laking tuwa ko po talaga na nabasa ko tong blog mo, now no worries na po talaga kami papuntang bora via kalibo airport. πŸ™‚

  32. Ohhh… such a helpful blog:* :* :*

So if I am with my 3 friends, Including me so we are equal to 4. if we will arrive to kalibo there would be transfer agency that could bring us to boracay beach?

  33. hi, i would like ask mron bang mga ferry and van to kalibo? our flight pbalik manila is 9:25 pm. di kasi ako ng arrange s hotel ng boat and van transfers mjo mas pricey kasi. thank you!

  34. Maraming Salamat po sa super detailed information. We’ll be visiting bora this week kasi. Buti napadpad ako sa blog ninyo. Now I know sa mga dapat gawin at sa mga babayarin. Tamang-tama din kasi, Dvo-Kalibo ang nakuha naming seat sale. Hehehe. Thanks Ma’am! πŸ˜‰ More power and keep on sharing your experiences. Followed your blog! πŸ˜‰

  35. hi yannah i like your blog very informative! May i know how much is the capacity of multi cab their Boracay? Can it cater up to 16 pax?

  36. Hi Yannah, thanks for your inrormation, We are 4 people going first time to the Boracay island. We going from Manila and if I understand that right, its less time and hassle getting from Caticlan to the white beach. So what we pay more on flight fare, we will safe time and the hassle?????
    Jenni

      1. Thanks for your reply. We already booked a flight direct to Caliclan and saving us the two hours. We paid only 130Β£ per person for return flight. Thats ok.
We only a bit vary about our hotel. it looked better than the reviews on trip advisor says. so we expect the worse.

  37. Hello! Nice blog. I would like to ask if mura na ba yung RT door to door transfer ng Kalibo-Boracay at P975.00 including terminal and envt fees? bwisit kasi yung mga kasama ng nanay ko eh ang mahal daw masyado. yung ilocos daw 600 lang. hello iba naman yon!

    thanks

  38. Hi! Ask ko lang if mura na to? –> Php800 per adult and Php400 per child (4-10 years old). Rate includes land/boat and terminal/environmental fees. Round trip na raw yan for Caticlan transfer.

  39. hi yan, ung monaco suites de boracay familiar ka ba dun? magkano lahat lahat ng gagagtusin ko mula sa Kalibo Airport Hanggang sa monaco? thanks! Keep safe! Nov 13 kc alis ko, first time ko. ako lang magisa. 😦 Salamat. Sobrang makakatulong ung reply mo. Godbless!

    1. Hi, I havent heard of monacco suites but you can try computing based on the facts stated in my post since it would all depend on your choice of transportation. Happy wandering claress! And thanks for visiting my blog! πŸ™‚

  44. Thank you so much Ms. Yannah! πŸ™‚ Im lookin forward to our Bora trip next year… I hope everything goes well… Booked our flight at Airasia… Yay! Excited much!

    1. Hi Carl!
According to one of my commenters, the ferry ride is only until 10pm. and since your arrival in kalibo is 9pm, the fastest that you can get to caticlan jetty port is 11:30pm, which is 1 hour and 30 minutes past the operations of the ferries.

  45. Hi. May I asked how to go to Kalibo if from Boracay.?

    kim

    1. The environmental fee, yes. Terminal Fee, you need to pay it again in Boracay Terminal. It’s about 40-50pesos. πŸ™‚ So, you’ll pay the terminal fee twice. Once in Caticlan Ferry terminal and then in Boracay Ferry Terminal πŸ™‚

  49. I am going to Boracay in August 2014. This post was really helpful. Hopfully, i will get there safe and sound ^^*

  50. thanks yanna this blog is very helpful….ask ko lang pano makakatipid ng food sa bora? breakfast, lunch, dinner….

    1. maganda kung ang hotel niyo may kasama ng breakfast, kasi noon, nagheheavy breakfast na kami (brunch) and then sa dinner, may andoks sa D’mall. tsaka sa D’mall usually mura ang pagkain.

  51. Hi. I just want to ask if, makakasakay pa po ba kami ng boat beyond 10pm? our arrival in Kalibo is 725pm via air asia. Please give me some suggestions. Thanks

  52. Hi Yannah. Thanks for this very informative blog! πŸ™‚ Anyway. We will go to Bora this Sept 23-26. I was wondering if mas ok ba na may package na kami like yung Isand Star Express na may Bus and Boat na kagad o yung on the spot na lang kami kukuha pagdating sa Kalibo Airport? Thanks in advance Yannah!
